A nail technician is a professional who provides nail care services such as manicures, pedicures, and nail enhancements (e.g. acrylics, gels, etc.) Nail technicians typically work in nail salons, spas, or other beauty-related environments. They may also work independently or freelance. The main duties of a nail technician include: Cleaning and shaping nails Applying polish, gel, or acrylic nails Advising clients on nail care and maintaining healthy nails Keeping a clean and organized work environment Staying up-to-date with new techniques, products and trends in the industry As a licensed professional, following all state and federal regulations for sanitation and sterilization. A nail technician should have a good attention to detail and strong communication skills. xibtplm Many states require a license to work as a nail technician, which is usually obtained through completing a state-approved training program and passing a written and practical exam.
