Upcoming retirement and succession planning has created need for promotable Production Foreman or Team Leader experienced in managing
assembly operations in a custom fabrication/ lean environment.
This is an assembly environment not terribly high volume so someone from very small components or parts will probably NOT be a fit. Ideally
know something about welding, machining, testing, roll forming, multiple step assembly and fabrication processes.
Will be supervising team in sheet metal fabrication, plastics and cast component manufacturing and mechanical product assembly. Demonstrated participation in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
Will have support from Production Supervisors and Management so will consider someone transitioning from the military who has demonstrated
leadership and technical skills.
Job Duties:
Will supervise the activities -12 production personnel engaged in all aspects of assembly function. Specific responsibilities include
communicating job expectations, planning and monitoring work, appraising job results and managing an assigned workforce.
Will be active on the plant floor, recognizing bottlenecks, production delays and workflow problems, finding and implementing solutions.
Key accountabilities include:
- Meeting production schedules by establishing priorities
- Establishes staffing plans and assigns labor hours as required, revising schedules as necessary.
- Identify and implement quality and continuous initiatives.
- Responsible for safety procedures necessary to maintain manufacturing operations and high quality standards.
- Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a hands-on production environment.
Leadership experience as a Production Supervisor, Shop Supervisor, Team Leader, Lead Person, or similar front line leadership role such as in the military.
- Strong understanding of workflow, safety, quality, productivity, and employee accountability.
- Ability to make timely decisions and solve problems in a fast-moving production environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work, or continuous-improvement principles is preferred.
- Basic computer skills sufficient to review production information and complete required documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or college education is a plus but not required.
