Interested in making a difference in the lives of young elementary school age children? The Children's Center is seeking a Special Education Teacher (282 certification for K-8 or eligibility for certification required) to work with children in preschool through grade three who are not yet ready to enter public school. Daily activities are focused on their behavioral and communication needs, independence skills, and academic goals specialized for each child in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals. Academic year schedule could be considered.
The Special Education Teacher will work with a Master's level Clinician and Special Education team to implement children's IEP goals and strategically use resources to reach those goals. This position provides both direct instruction in the classroom, and oversees the provision of IEPs for children in the classroom setting. The Special Education Teacher will be an active member of children's IEP teams, attending meetings, proposing goals, setting transition plans, and ensuring all children are receiving the highest quality special education services. Staff in this position conduct one-on-one or small group instruction, perform classroom management, and complete daily data collection and documentation.
