Job Description: Job Description Plant Manager - Automotive Manufacturing (Union Environment) What You Will Do: As a Plant Manager, you will lead a high-performing manufacturing operation, driving excellence across safety, quality, delivery, and cost. You'll have full ownership of plant performance, with the opportunity to shape strategy, develop teams, and implement continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced automotive environment.Own plant performance, including production, quality, safety, and financial resultsDevelop and manage short- and long-term budgets, ensuring alignment with operational and financial targetsPartner with cross-functional leaders to deliver production plans on time and within cost expectationsImplement and optimize systems to control:Capital expendituresOperating costsLabor and workforce planningLead efforts to reduce overtime, premium freight, and maintenance-related costsOversee facility operations and capital assets, including maintenance, upgrades, and improvementsDrive and sustain a culture of continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologiesEstablish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure achievement of plant goalsChampion preventative maintenance programs to ensure uptime and equipment reliabilityPromote shop floor organization (5S) and a clean, efficient work environmentLead, coach, and develop both union (hourly) and salaried teamsEnsure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards What You Will Bring8+ years of Plant Management or General Management experience within a manufacturing environment8+ years of leadership experience in a union environment (UAW experience strongly preferred)Proven experience leading both salaried and hourly teamsStrong background in automotive manufacturing (OEM or Tier 1 highly preferred)Hands-on expertise in:Lean ManufacturingContinuous Improvement methodologiesSix Sigma tools and problem-solving approachesDemonstrated success managing plant budgets and driving cost improvementsBachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field Preferred QualificationsAutomotive OEM (GM strongly preferred) or Tier 1 supplier experienceSix Sigma Black Belt certificationLean Manufacturing certificationExperience supporting launches or new program ramp-ups Work Environment & ScheduleStandard schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PMFlexibility required during launches and peak production periodsUp to 25% travelRegular presence on the manufacturing floor, including occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) Why This RoleHigh-impact leadership position with full plant accountabilityOpportunity to shape culture, performance, and long-term operational successWork in a dynamic automotive environment with strong emphasis on continuous improvement If you meet the above qualifications and would like to apply for this position, you may email your up-to-date, professional CV/resume to Tim Perfect placements.
